In this assignment you will choose one out of eight notable protest songs from American popular music to analyze and research. Through internet research you will discover the meanings behind these songs, and on your own you will determine the connections between the music and the time period. You will also research the artist who recorded the song.

Finally, you will make connections between the song you have chosen and your world today. Has society changed much since these songs were made, or have we learned anything from the music?

This assignment is to be done in groups of two, with the workload being divided equally, of course. Either way you split it up, perspectives from both students must be shown in your final report.
